Kathmandu. Former Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has issued an appeal immediately after returning to the country following a health treatment of nearly five months. Through the appeal, Deuba has expressed his commitment to be active not for the attainment of any position or power, but for national unity, strengthening of democracy, and addressing the sentiments of the youth generation. 'I have returned not to gain power, but to strengthen national unity,' Deuba wrote in the appeal.
President Deuba has accused the current government of failing to meet public expectations. He argues that the government has failed to respect the mandate of the people and has focused solely on political biases and prejudices. 'If the ruling party, which emerged from a fresh mandate, fails to respect the people's mandate, then no one can change the fact that the people are the ultimate authority in a democracy,' Deuba wrote in the appeal.
