Deuba Returns Home, Claims No Corruption in 50-Year Political Career

Kathmandu. Nepali Congress's former president and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has claimed that there has been no stain of corruption in his 50-year-long political career. Deuba, who returned to the country after 5 months, said this while addressing leaders and workers after reaching his residence in Chunadevi from Tribhuvan International Airport. Deuba said that he would not be swayed by the conspiracies and legal entanglements against him. Mentioning the various complaints and investigations against him, Deuba said that he is not afraid to go to court. 'It has gone to court, they say come 10 times. Came 10 times, they say nothing. Came 11 times, 20 times, nothing. Because I have worked for 50 years so far, there is no matter of even one rupee being out of place anywhere.' During his speech, Deuba brought up the subject of former King Gyanendra Shah. 'King Gyanendra could not do it, can others do it here?' He claimed that no one can reverse democracy and republic. He said that the republic in the country was brought not only by his desire but by the Constituent Assembly elected by the people. Mentioning that the people are aware for the protection of the republic, Deuba said, 'It is not a matter of coming when I want and going when I want. This is the biggest thing in this country. The people of this country are the masters of Nepal. Whatever this master says will happen.' Deuba said that the court and the people of this country understand everything and that time will answer those who oppose him.
