BNP Names Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir as Presidential Candidate

Dhaka. Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has selected Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir as the party's candidate for the upcoming presidential election. Immediately after becoming a candidate, Alamgir resigned from the post of party secretary general and member of the National Standing Committee.

BNP Senior Joint Secretary Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the decision to make Alamgir the presidential candidate at a press conference at the party secretariat in front of the Prime Minister's Office on Thursday after a meeting of the National Standing Committee. Other leaders of the National Standing Committee, including the joint secretary general of the party, were present at the meeting.
