UK Faces Record Heatwave, Challenging Old Perceptions

London. The perception in Nepali life that Britain, especially London, is a country of cold, clouds, rain, and snow is old. The popular song lyric 'Achha Lekin London ko chiso le sataula' (Oh, but the London cold might bother me) is etched in the minds of many Nepalis. However, the summer of 2026 has changed that old perception of Britain's weather.

This year, Britain is facing extreme heat for the fifth consecutive time. With temperatures predicted to reach up to 38 degrees Celsius in various parts of the country on Thursday, an amber-level extreme heat warning has been issued for parts of East England, London and the Southeast, the Midlands, and Yorkshire and the Humber.
