Sher Bahadur Deuba Returns to Nepal Amidst Internal Party Power Struggle and Legal Investigations

Kathmandu. Nepali Congress former president and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has returned home after a stay of nearly five months abroad. Deuba, who left for Singapore on February 13 for medical treatment, returned on Thursday.
Deuba, the president elected from the 14th general convention, lost his position after a new leadership was elected from the special general convention held in the last week of January. A new working committee has been elected under the leadership of Gagan Thapa from the special general convention. With Deuba's return, the escalating power struggle within the Congress is likely to reach its 'climax'. After the special general convention, the Deuba and Dr. Shekhar Koirala group, which has been out of power, has organized a two-day national gathering in Kathmandu starting Friday.
