Modern Butwal Slaughterhouse Remains Closed Amidst Policy Implementation

Butwal. The Council of Ministers meeting last week decided to implement the Slaughterhouse and Meat Inspection Act, 2055 in phases across the country. Although the government made such a decision with the aim of making meat production clean, safe, and organized, the modern slaughterhouse located in Ramnagar, Butwal Sub-Metropolis-10, Rupandehi, has been closed for a long time.
The modern slaughterhouse in Butwal, constructed at a cost of approximately 22 crore rupees, had not been operational for a long time. Service began on Jestha 17, 081 after the Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City handed over its operation for five years to Muktinath Livestock Bank Limited under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. However, within a few months of operation, due to various disputes and problems in contract implementation, the slaughterhouse was closed again.
