To reach the Dhuku Futsal Hub in Baluwatar, one must navigate a dusty, congested road where tall concrete buildings lean in like the walls of a cave. A decade ago, this neighbourhood offered open spaces every few hundred metres—not large enough for a proper stadium, but sufficient for locals to kick a ball around. Today, those spaces have been swallowed by the city’s relentless expansion. In their place, a green sanctuary of synthetic turf has emerged, lit by LED sports lights that defy both the setting sun and the monsoon rains.
