Hetauda. Bagmati Province Chief Minister Indra Bahadur Baniya is going to seek a vote of confidence on Monday, August 18. The Chief Minister has written to the Parliament Secretariat in Hetauda to convene a provincial assembly meeting at 1 PM on the same day.
The Chief Minister had fallen into a minority after CPN-UML, a participant in the government, withdrew its support to the government on July 22. Although CPN-UML and CPN have prepared to form a government by creating a new coalition, they have not yet been able to secure the necessary support. In such a situation, Chief Minister Baniya had a constitutional obligation to obtain a vote of confidence from the parliament by August 4. Keeping in mind the same situation, the Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party meeting had decided to seek a vote of confidence before August 3. As per the party's decision, Chief Minister Baniya has written to the Provincial Assembly Secretariat to make necessary arrangements for seeking a vote of confidence on August 1.
