Ministry of Health and Population Issues New Procedure for Death Registration in Hospitals

Kathmandu. The real cause of every death in the hospital will no longer be covered up or remain in vague details. The Ministry of Health and Population has issued the 'Procedure for Management System of Death Records in Hospitals, 2082' and started a new system of digitally recording the medical cause of death in all government, community, and private hospitals across the country.

This system, implemented according to international standards and the World Health Organization's classification of diseases, has made it mandatory to disclose the initial, intermediate, and final (definitive) causes of death. Now, detailed information of all cases admitted to the hospital, those who died en route, brought in dead, and autopsied must be entered into the electronic system.
