Nepali Congress Leader Saud Claims Special Convention Divided Party, Damaged Vote

Kathmandu. Nepali Congress leader NP Saud has claimed that the practice in the name of a special general convention has divided the party and caused great damage to the public mandate. Addressing a national gathering organized by the party's dissenting group in Kathmandu, leader Saud said that Sher Bahadur Deuba's leadership is indispensable to unite the Congress, which is in a challenging situation.

Leader Saud questioned the time and relevance of the special general convention. 'At the time of the special general convention, we had urged not to do this on the eve of the election and to create an environment to proceed by waiting for the regular general convention,' he said, 'but the Congress was divided during the election, due to which the Congress vote, which was 2.7 million, has shrunk to 1.6 million.'
