Powerful 7.7 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Eastern Indonesia, Triggers Minor Tsunami Waves

Jakarta. A powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck the sea area of eastern Indonesia on Saturday morning. Indonesia's geophysics agency BMKG has stated that tsunami waves of less than one meter in height were recorded in some areas after the earthquake.

After the earthquake, local residents fled their homes for safe places. According to the spokesperson of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency, Dodi Yuleova, strong tremors of the earthquake were felt for about one minute in areas including Nagekeo and Bima. According to preliminary reports, no major damage was reported from the earthquake.
