IPPAN Chairman Calls for Private Sector Entry into Electricity Trading

Kathmandu. Independent Power Producers' Association Nepal (IPPAN) Chairman Mohan Kumar Danghi has stated that since the private sector has become capable in constructing electricity production and transmission infrastructure in Nepal, it should now be allowed to enter electricity trading as well. He expressed this view while addressing the 'Friday Forum' organized by IPPAN.
He clarified that the private sector in Nepal has already proven its capability in constructing electricity production and transmission lines. Citing the example of dozens of private companies actively engaged in electricity trading in India, Chairman Danghi demanded that companies that have applied for electricity trading be granted permission as soon as possible, as the government alone cannot expand the market in Nepal.
