Kathmandu. A female government official has alleged that she was raped by her colleague and that the district court ignored evidence and released the perpetrator on bail of Rs 500,000, granting him impunity. On Saturday, at a press conference organized at Dialogue Dabali in the capital, the victim informed that she has been staging a sit-in protest at Maitighar Mandala for justice for the past two months.
The victim expressed her grief, stating that the Kathmandu District Court released the perpetrator on bail of Rs 500,000, even though he should have been kept in custody for the investigation of a serious crime like rape. She stated that she approached the Patan High Court for justice after the accused, a लेखा अधिकृत (Accounts Officer) from Hanumannagar, Kolhbi Municipality, Bara district, was released on bail in the case of forced sexual intercourse filed against him. However, the High Court also upheld the district court's decision.
