Old Nepali Films Draw Crowds in 'Old is Gold' Series

Kathmandu, July 30: In the current era dominated by state-of-the-art multiplexes and digital streaming (OTT) platforms, would audiences flock to watch Nepali films from decades ago? For many, the answer might be 'Probably not, no'. However, the historic film screening series 'Old is Gold', organized by the Government of Nepal, Film Development Board, has answered this question with full halls, audiences watching films sitting on the floor, and their unprecedented presence.

This seven-day series, which concluded on Wednesday with the screening of 'Jeevanrekha' and 'Badalindo Akash', has successfully tested the government's effort to bring Nepali cinema history not just to archives and reels, but also to the audience.
