Indonesia Hit by 7.7 Magnitude Earthquake Followed by 6.4 Magnitude Aftershock

Indonesia. A 6.4 magnitude aftershock struck the North Sumatra province of the country a few hours after a 7.7 magnitude earthquake hit eastern Indonesia on Saturday morning, the Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported.< p>

Although several aftershocks were reported after the earthquake, this is the second powerful tremor to occur in a single day. The 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck eastern Indonesia claimed the lives of dozens of people and a temporary tsunami warning was issued, which was later lifted.< p>
