Rethinking Education: From Information to Wisdom and Creation

Education has always been the most powerful catalyst for the evolution of human consciousness and the construction of civilization. However, in the contemporary world, and especially in Nepali society, the definition, dignity, and utility of education are becoming increasingly narrow. The current education system is limited to merely collecting information, transferring subject-specific knowledge, formally studying the curriculum, and ultimately, a technical means to obtain a university certificate. This mechanization of education has transformed humans into 'economic animals' or 'machines' but has gradually eroded the 'humanity' within them.
The completeness of education should ideally begin with information, proceed through the path of knowledge and wisdom, and reach the highest point of transformation/creation. However, due to our extreme focus on opportunity and blind competition, the fundamental essence and basic dimensions of education have been overshadowed. The current social psychology clearly highlights this void and moral crisis. In this light, it has become imperative to redefine and re-establish four dimensions—awareness, competence, compassion, and prosperity (Smriddhi)—to revitalize education.
