Congress Factional Gathering Concludes Amidst Leadership Absence and Internal Disputes

Kathmandu. The 3-day national gathering organized by the Nepali Congress's dissenting faction (former President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Dr. Shekhar Koirala) concluded today at Miracle Party Palace in Sukedhara. The gathering, which was expected to conclude cordially, became somewhat controversial in its closing session due to the absence of top leadership and ideological differences.

Former Acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka did not attend the closing ceremony of the gathering. Khadka, who took charge of the party leadership while former President Deuba was abroad for medical treatment, had participated in the opening session of the gathering on Shrawan 29. Leaders stated that his absence at the closing was significant. Khadka's secretariat informed Ratopati that Khadka did not attend the closing ceremony.
