Editor Kishore Shrestha Detained for 4 More Days for Investigation

Kathmandu. Kathmandu District Court has allowed Janastha Weekly editor Kishore Shrestha to be detained for 4 more days for investigation. Police had presented Shrestha in court on Monday seeking an extension of his detention. Previously, the same court had allowed him to be detained for 3 days for investigation. After the expiry of that period, the police demanded more time citing that the investigation was not complete, and the court granted 4 days. Meanwhile, a habeas corpus writ filed in the Supreme Court challenging Shrestha's arrest as illegal is scheduled for hearing today. The writ has been scheduled for a hearing in the joint bench of Justices Nahakul Subedi and Balkrishna Dhakal. Shrestha was arrested last Wednesday by a team from the Valley Crime Investigation Office and the District Police Complex, Kathmandu. Police stated that he was arrested for investigation on charges of violating the Personal Privacy Act, 2075 BS.
