German Embassy Clarifies Passport Purchase Case

Kathmandu. The German Embassy in Kathmandu has issued a clarification regarding the news that has appeared in the media about the Nepali passport purchase case and the subsequent developments. The embassy has stated that many reports on this matter are incorrect and misleading. According to the German Embassy, the acting ambassador of Nepal in Berlin was only invited to a meeting at the Federal Foreign Office of Germany. The embassy stated that there was no 'interrogation' for clarification. The embassy clarified that although this may sound like a small difference in diplomacy, it has great meaning and importance. Similarly, the embassy stated that no protest letter or any other type of document was handed over to Nepal by Germany during the meeting. The German side also stated that nothing was said about the legal process of passport purchase or the potential consequences or warnings regarding the outcome of the ongoing court case. The embassy mentioned that Germany always fully respects the independence of the judiciary, clarifying that this is a principle enshrined in its constitution. In accordance with its established principle, the embassy does not comment on cases pending in court, and has not made any comments in this case so far.
