Devastating Flood Claims 538 Lives, Hundreds Missing

Kathmandu. A total of 538 people have died due to the flood in the Bhote Koshi river in Rasuwa. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority provided this information by releasing the data as of 3 PM on Bhadra 12, 2083 BS. The highest number of deaths, 221, occurred in Chitwan. Similarly, 134 bodies were found in Nawalparasi East, 46 with various human organs in Gorkha, 37 in Nuwakot, and 33 in Dhading. 28 died in Tanahu, 27 in Nawalparasi West, and 12 in Rasuwa. 73 people were injured in the disaster. Among them, 43 are from Rasuwa, 27 from Nuwakot, and 3 from Dhading.

977 people are still missing after the flood. A large number of foreign nationals are among the missing. 517 foreign nationals and 127 Nepalis living abroad visiting Nepal are unaccounted for. According to the details received from the District Emergency Operations Center (DEOC), 161 from Rasuwa, 66 from Makwanpur, and 1 from Nuwakot are missing.
