Nepal Police Deny Allegations of Misappropriating Relief Materials

Kathmandu. Nepal Police has objected to the statement made by CPN (UML) leader Mahesh Basnet alleging that security personnel used relief materials meant for flood and landslide victims. Nepal Police has issued a press release stating that its serious attention has been drawn to the spread of baseless, fabricated, and misleading information targeting the security agencies through social media.

Following the devastating floods in the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli rivers recently, which caused significant loss of life and property in districts like Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading, the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force personnel have been working day and night in search, rescue, and relief distribution. Against this backdrop, UML leader Basnet had accused the army and police of misappropriating relief materials in a video interview.
