Kimrung Khola Water Flow Returns to Normal in Annapurna Rural Municipality

Kaski. The flow of Kimrung Khola, a tributary of Modi Khola in Annapurna Rural Municipality-11, Kaski, has returned to its old state since this morning. High alert was maintained last night on suspicion of the water flow being stopped as the river was blocked on Tuesday evening. Ward Chairman of Annapurna-11, Himbahadur Gurung, informed that the river's flow is now flowing in its previous state and there is no risk. "When the water in the river decreased since yesterday evening, everyone became concerned and curious whether it was due to a landslide. We also appealed for caution everywhere and asked to investigate if it was due to a landslide, but now the water is flowing in the river in its previous state, so there is no visible risk. Everyone can be relieved," said Chairman Gurung. High alert was maintained in the Modi and Kimrung Khola riverine areas after the potential risk following the blockage of the river. The District Police Office, Kaski, urged locals to stay safe by making announcements in the areas of Birethanti, Nayapul in Kaski and Patiichaur and Dimuwa in Parbat, and locals left their homes at night and moved to safe places. Following the information that the river might have been blocked, a police team of 10 people under the command of Police Inspector Ramprasad Sapkota from the Village Municipality Chairman Bishnubahadur KC and Ward Police Office Bagar was deployed, and police were also mobilized from Ghandruk, Birethanti, and Nayapul, informed Chitrangaat Baral, Assistant Chief District Officer of Kaski. Kimrung Khola had also experienced a sudden flood on Asar 28. That flood had washed away a bridge and damaged hotels. After that, four wards of Annapurna Rural Municipality are disconnected from direct road contact due to the flood in Modi Khola. The Birethanti-Ghandruk road has been obstructed for three weeks, and reconstruction work is currently underway in Birethanti.
