CPN-UML MP Arjun Kumar Karki Draws Attention to High Risk of Four Glacial Lakes in Sankhuwasabha

Kathmandu. CPN-UML MP Arjun Kumar Karki has drawn the government's attention to the high risk of four glacial lakes in Sankhuwasabha, stating that the settlements and structures around them are at risk. He provided information about the risk while speaking at a meeting of the House of Representatives on Wednesday.

'According to various national and international research, four glacial lakes, including the potentially risky Lower Barun glacial lake in the Bhotkhola and Makalu areas of Sankhuwasabha, are in a high-risk category,' Karki said, 'If these glacial lakes explode for any reason, it will cause great damage to the settlements, bridges, roads, hydropower projects, and other important infrastructure in the Arun Valley.'
