Pyongyang. North Korea has constructed a two-story new uranium processing and enrichment facility at its main nuclear center, Yongbyon. The head of the international nuclear monitoring body, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, has called this a matter of grave concern.
According to the IAEA, the new building has the capacity to house up to 28 centrifuge systems used for uranium enrichment. Similarly, the agency has indicated that operations began in January of this year in the expanded part of another uranium enrichment center located in Kangson, near the capital Pyongyang.
