Kathmandu. Nepali Congress Member of Parliament Ninu Kumari Karn has asked Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Sobita Gautam about which laws the National Assembly has obstructed. Speaking at the meeting of the Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee held at Singha Durbar on Thursday, she posed this question. Karn accused Minister Gautam of covering up her incompetence by claiming that laws could not be made due to the lack of representation of the Rastriya Swatantra Party in the National Assembly. A few days ago, Minister Gautam had commented that laws desired by the public could not be made because the Rastriya Swatantra Party did not have a majority in the National Assembly. MP Karn also drew the government's attention to the delay in the implementation of verdicts, stating that despite having courts at all levels, citizens are unable to receive timely justice. She said that the long process of verdict execution causes citizens to be unable to receive justice on time. 'The Minister is saying that we could not make laws because we do not have representation in the National Assembly,' she said while speaking at the meeting, 'Because of the National Assembly, or because of the House of Representatives, or because of which body, which laws has she been unable to make?' She clarified that the issue of verdict implementation is very serious and the delay in it is preventing victimized citizens from receiving justice. She stated that it is worrying that despite the judiciary being the most important body in the country, it is unable to deliver timely justice to citizens. She emphasized the need to enact laws necessary for the implementation of verdicts, citing the long process of verdict execution and the repeated postponement of hearing dates as reasons for the delay in justice.
