Kathmandu. The Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources has suggested the government establish climate justice as a major national and international issue. Stating that although Nepal's contribution to global greenhouse gas emissions is extremely low, it is forced to bear significant losses from climate-induced disasters, the committee has drawn the government's attention to present the affected citizens as 'victims of climate injustice' at the international level.
The committee has concluded that climate finance should be understood not just as aid, but as a matter connected to the needs, capacities, and livelihoods created by climate change. It has been suggested that the government call on developed countries to provide predictable, long-term, and sufficient grant-based climate finance for least developed and mountainous countries at risk.
