A devastating flood occurred on August 26, 2083 BS (Bikram Sambat) from the Lhende River in Tibet. The flood, which came with great speed, caused the most damage in Rasuwa and Nuwakot. After entering Nepal, the flood swept away villages and settlements in its path. Locals say the flood covered the approximately 80-kilometer distance from Rasuwagadhi to Devighat Bazaar in 25 minutes.
In this short period, about one thousand houses in Rasuwa were damaged. After entering Trishuli Bazaar, an additional one thousand three hundred houses were completely destroyed in areas like Dhunge Bazaar, Trishuli Bazaar, and Devighat.
