Man Dies After Setting Himself on Fire Outside Department of Passports

Kathmandu. Ganesh Nepali, who set himself on fire in front of the Department of Passports in Tripureshwor, Kathmandu, has died. He died during treatment at Bir Hospital. On Thursday, a dispute arose in front of Gate No. 3 of the department with a female police officer deployed from Kathmandu Metropolitan City over the issue of 'wheel locking' a motorcycle.
After the dispute with the metropolitan police, Ganesh, a resident of Ward No. 6 of Soru Rural Municipality in Mugu, took out petrol from his motorcycle and self-immolated. The police circle Kalimati has summoned three people, including the female police officer with whom the 25-year-old Ganesh Nepali had a dispute, for investigation. Three metropolitan police personnel present at the scene have been called to provide a 'statement of incident', as told to Ratopati by Pawan Bhattarai, Spokesperson (SP) of the District Police Complex Kathmandu. He said, 'We have called them to provide a statement of incident.'
