Kathmandu. The Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) has stated that the government should take responsibility for the death of 25-year-old Ganesh Nepali of Mugu, who self-immolated in front of the Department of Passports. In the House of Representatives meeting on Friday, CPN MP Parwati BK said that a youth had to lose his life prematurely due to the heavy traffic fines and administrative pressure increased by the government.
MP BK mentioned that Ganesh Nepali chose the path of self-immolation due to the mental stress caused by having to pay a fine of 10,000 rupees for parking a motorcycle. “How much stress must a fine of 10,000 rupees have caused him? This is not just a fine, but a product of the state's insensitivity,” she said, “This death has occurred due to the government of Nepal not considering the nature and seriousness of the offense when recently amending traffic fines.”
