Landslide Creates Dam on Hunga River, Alert Issued for Downstream Areas

Kathmandu. Alert has been urged for the riverine areas after a landslide created a dam on the Hunga River between Mahakulung Rural Municipality-2 and 4 in Solukhumbu.

A landslide of about 35 meters high occurred about 100 meters below the head office of Gaurishankar Hydropower on the Mahakulung Rural Municipality-2 side around 7 am on Bhadra 26. The police have stated that after the landslide, a dam about 100 meters long and 15 meters high was formed in the river.
