Barricades, checkpoints, and traffic restrictions have been put in place on major roads, with thousands of security personnel deployed. The government has also declared public holidays to ease movement.

Despite the closure of government offices, schools, and many private businesses, the restrictions have created problems for office-going employees, delivery drivers, and daily wage earners. Residents have reported that short-distance journeys have become longer due to road closures and diversions, and taxi fares have increased in some areas.
