Bagmati and Gandaki Highway Sections Affected by Floods, Landslides, and Road Maintenance

Kathmandu. Major highway and road sections of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces have been affected by floods, landslides, and road maintenance. As of the report received at 06:00 AM on Monday, traffic is completely closed in some places due to potential floods and landslides, while in some places it has been brought to one-way operation. The Khurkot-Nepal Thok-Katuñjebesi section of the BP Highway in Kavre has been operating with a schedule for vehicles from Bhadra 16 until further notice. From 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM, cargo vehicles up to 10 tons will operate. From 4:00 AM to 6:00 PM, vehicles will be operated considering the situation. The main highways of Rasuwa district are completely blocked due to floods. There has been a complete obstruction for a long time from Bhadra 08 in Khalte of Uttargaya Rural Municipality-5 along the Trishuli Mailung Syabrubesi road section. Similarly, from Bhadra 10, complete obstruction remains in other areas of the main highway until further notice. In Nuwakot, on the Tokha Chhahare road section, at Ghattikhola of Shivapuri Rural Municipality-8, vehicle operation has been stopped during the night (from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM) since Bhadra 01 due to potential floods and landslides. The Pasang Lhamu road section in Simtar of Bidur Municipality-10 has been completely blocked due to floods since Bhadra 10. In Dhading, the Prithvi Lokmarg has also faced problems due to landslides. There has been a complete obstruction at Krishna Bhir of Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-07 since Bhadra 14. At Benighat Rorang-10 Jwad Khola and Shitalbazar on the same highway, landslides have been cleared and vehicles are being operated on a one-way basis. Similarly, on the Narayangadh-Muglin highway in Chitwan, traffic is being operated one-way depending on the vehicle pressure due to road maintenance at Tuinkhola. In Manang of Gandaki Province, on the Chame-Besishahar road section, at Dharapani of Naso Rural Municipality-3, due to ongoing road construction work since Bhadra 25, only small vehicles are currently being operated.
