Former Minister Rajendra Kharel's Body Brought to Nepali Congress Central Office

Kathmandu. Former minister and Nepali Congress leader Rajendra Kharel's body has been brought to the Nepali Congress central office in Sanepa. Kharel, 80, who was undergoing treatment at Frontline Hospital in Baneshwor for increased asthma, passed away at 9:45 PM on Sunday. The body of Kharel, born in Kharel Thok, Kavre in 2003 BS, has been brought to the party's central office for final tribute, informed Congress central office secretary Prakash Sharma. It has been decided that after party president Gagan Thapa pays his final respects at the office, the body will be taken to Pashupati Aryaghat for the final rites. Kharel's son, Panchekal municipality mayor and Congress Kavre district no. 2 president Mahesh Kharel, informed that the final rites are scheduled to be performed at Aryaghat at 1 PM. Kharel played an active role in the 2036 BS referendum, 2042 BS Satyagraha, 2046 BS People's Movement, and the 2062/2063 BS People's Movement. Kharel, who worked with Congress leaders BP Koirala, Krishna Prasad Bhattarai, Ganesh Man Singh, among others, was elected to the House of Representatives from Kavre in 2056 BS. At that time, he served as the State Minister for Education and the Minister for Women, Children, and Social Welfare.
