France Proposes Ban on Social Media for Children Under 15

Paris. The French government has moved forward with a new legal proposal to ban children under 15 from using social media. President Emmanuel Macron said on Monday that the government had informed the European Commission of the revised draft. The government prepared a new proposal after the constitutional council rejected the previously introduced law.

Macron has made preventing the negative effects of social media use on children and adolescents one of his top priorities. He expects the ban to be implemented before his presidential term ends next year.
