Government Report Highlights Crisis in Child Reform Homes and Prisons in Koshi Province

Biratnagar. A government report claims that child reform homes established with the objective of reforming children involved in criminal activities and reintegrating them into society are becoming centers of extreme mental stress, depression, and insecurity.

Similarly, the report claims that prisons have been turned into places where even basic human rights are not available. The 'Detention, Child Reform Home, and Prison Monitoring Inspection Report-2082/083' published by the Office of the Attorney General, Koshi Province, has revealed the condition of detention and reform homes in all 14 districts of the province. The report states that about half of the children in child reform homes are suffering from serious mental problems and prisoners are enduring inhumane suffering.
