71 Missing After Bhote Koshi Flood Reappear, 143 Still Uncontacted

Kailali. Among those who went missing due to the Bhote Koshi flood, 71 have come in contact. According to the records of the Provincial Emergency Operations Center, 143 people from Sudurpaschim working in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, Chitwan, and Tanahu are still out of contact, and one person has died.

After the flood on the 10th of Bhadra, complaints were received at the center that individuals from various districts of Sudurpaschim, whose homes and addresses were there but were working in the affected areas, had gone out of contact after the flood. Later, information was received that 71 people had come in contact, informed Janak Dhami, head of the disaster branch of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law. Dhami informed that among those who have come in contact so far, there are 11 women and 60 men, and among those who are out of contact, there are 13 women and 130 men. According to the district-wise details, the highest number of 67 people from Kailali are out of contact, while 53 have come in contact. Among those out of contact and those who have come in contact, 26 and 11 from Kanchanpur, 17 and six from Dadeldhura, and two and one from Doti respectively. Similarly, 16 people from Bajura, seven from Baitadi, four from Dadeldhura, two from Bajhang, and two from Achham are still out of contact. The records of the Emergency Operations Center mention that one person from Baitadi has died and the body has been received and cremated.
