Statue of First Chief Secretary Chandra Bahadur Thapa Unveiled at Nijamati Park

Kathmandu. The statue of the first Chief Secretary, Chandra Bahadur Thapa, who was also the first Auditor General of the civil service, has been unveiled in the Nijamati Park area in Gokarna. On May 25, 2007, a cabinet meeting decided to build a National Martyrs and Peace Monument and Nijamati Park in the Jagadol Community Forest area in Gokarna.
The statue of the first Chief Secretary has been unveiled in the park 20 years after the cabinet's decision. Most of the work on the Martyrs Monument has started but is not finished. Many structures have been started and left incomplete. Unveiling the statue of the first Chief Secretary Thapa in the Nijamati Park area, Chief Secretary Sumanraj Aryal said that the park would be developed as a study center for civil servants.
