Former Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara Ordered to Pay 1 Lakh Bail in Corruption Case

Kathmandu. The Special Court has ordered former Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara to pay 1 lakh in bail in a corruption case. The bench of Special Court Chairman Sudarshan Dev Bhatta and member Bidur Koirala, after hearing the pre-trial detention arguments, ordered Mahara to pay 1 lakh in bail.

The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority had filed a corruption case involving more than 7 crore 78 lakh rupees against Mahara and customs officials in connection with the gold smuggling case brought hidden inside an electronic cigarette (vape).
