Government Restricts Vehicle Movement in Flood-Prone Districts

Kathmandu. The government has decided to allow vehicle operation in affected districts only after assessing the risk of monsoon-related disasters such as floods, landslides, and inundation.

Following the forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall in 21 districts of the country by the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority has intensified preparations. Pradeep Kumar Koirala, Acting Executive Chief of the Authority, stated that the decision to restrict vehicle operation on roads with high risk of potential landslides and floods has been made with the safety of citizens in mind.
