Israeli Forces Strike Hamas Commander at Gaza Hospital, Officials Report Multiple Fatalities

This is the latest attack against Hamas in the war-torn region, despite a US-backed ceasefire that came into effect in October 2025. Israel continues to target Palestinians whom it calls terrorists. The army said it struck a Hamas commander who was 'hiding' inside the complex of Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the central city of Deir al-Balah, but it was not immediately confirmed whether he was killed or not. The army said the commander, who was not named, was struck in a structure attached to the hospital buildings on the charge of 'advancing attacks on IDF soldiers and Israeli citizens'. The hospital reported that three people were injured in an Israeli attack near the maternity ward warehouse. The army said it took steps 'to minimize risk to civilians' and warned Gaza's medical officials two days ago 'not to use medical facilities for terrorist purposes'. The hospital reported that one person was killed by Israeli gunfire in the eastern part of the city throughout the day. The Israeli army said it was investigating the reports. The civil defense, which works as a rescue force under Hamas in Gaza City, said two people were killed and several others injured in an Israeli attack near the intersection of the Tel al-Hawa neighborhood. The Israeli army said it struck 'military operatives' in the area. Despite the ceasefire announced with the mediation of the United States in October, Israel has continued its attacks in Gaza and further advanced its troops. Israel has emphasized the need to end the threat from Hamas, which carried out an unprecedented attack against Israel on October 7, 2023. The Palestinian Ministry of Health said at least 1,313 people have been killed in Israeli operations in Gaza since the ceasefire came into effect. The ministry operates under Hamas authority and the United Nations considers its statistics reliable. In the past 24 hours, the Israeli army reported the deaths of five of its soldiers and one civilian contractor.
