Woman Attempts Self-Immolation Near Boudha Gate

Kathmandu. A young woman has attempted self-immolation near Boudha Gate of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-6. 27-year-old Salu Gurung, originally from Temal Rural Municipality-3 of Kavrepalanchok and residing in Boudha, attempted self-immolation by sprinkling petrol at 2:50 AM. Gurung attempted self-immolation in the parking lot behind her own snack shop, informed SP Pawan Kumar Bhattarai of the District Police Range, Kathmandu. The husband took the injured wife to Sushma Koirala Memorial Hospital, Sakhu. From there, she has been referred to the Burn Hospital in Kirtipur for further treatment. Gurung has approximately 50 percent burns on her face, chest, and both hands. Preliminary investigation shows that she attempted self-immolation after a domestic dispute.
