Car Catches Fire in Kirtipur, Driver Found Dead

Kathmandu. The driver died after a private car caught fire suddenly at Tangalaphant in Kirtipur Municipality of the capital. The fire broke out in the Kia car numbered Ba 5 Cha 3038 near Chandani Chowk of Tangalaphant on Tuesday. SSP Dilip Ghimire of the District Police Complex, Kathmandu, said that the driver was found dead inside the vehicle as he could not get out after the car suddenly caught fire. Police said that he was found burnt and dead in a seatbelt-bound condition. The identity of the deceased driver is yet to be ascertained. Upon receiving information about the incident, local residents and police tried to extinguish the fire using a fire extinguisher. Later, a fire engine also reached the scene. It has not yet been revealed how the fire broke out in the car. Police said that further investigation is underway regarding the incident.
