Quadruplets Born in Australia from Single Fertilized Egg

In Australia, four daughters were born from a single fertilized egg that divided into four parts, a naturally occurring and extremely rare conception. According to doctors, such a conception has a probability of only one in 15 million, making it an extremely extraordinary event.

On July 14, 34-year-old Jenita Saou Namona gave birth to four daughters through cesarean surgery at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in Queensland. Namona, already a mother of four, and her husband Jortham were not planning to have more children, so the family was surprised to learn of the quadruplet pregnancy, the hospital said.
