Bagmati Province Government Sees Ministers' Resignation Leak

Makwanpur. The resignation letters of the ministers of the CPN-UML, who are preparing to leave the Bagmati Province government, have been made public on social media even before being submitted to the Chief Minister. The collective resignation letter prepared to be submitted to Chief Minister Indrabahadur Baniyan was leaked from the CPN-UML Parliamentary Party Secretariat. The Chief Minister's Office stated that Chief Minister Baniyan has been in Chitwan since Tuesday. According to the office, the Chief Minister is scheduled to return to Hetauda only on Wednesday afternoon. Only then will the CPN-UML ministers submit their resignations. Meanwhile, the letter regarding the withdrawal of support given to the government and the collective resignation of the ministers from the CPN-UML Parliamentary Party Secretariat has been made public. Although the letter bears the signature of Jagannath Thapaliya, the leader of the CPN-UML Bagmati Province Parliamentary Party, it does not have the official seal of the party. An employee of the CPN-UML Parliamentary Party Secretariat stated that there is no formal information on how the letter was leaked from the secretariat. According to him, it is possible that some MP or minister took a photo with a mobile phone and made it public. The CPN-UML has already decided to leave the Bagmati Province government as per the central directive. Although a decision has been made for the 6 ministers of the CPN-UML in the government to resign collectively and withdraw their support to the government, the formal process has been delayed by a few hours due to the absence of the Chief Minister. The CPN-UML has not yet commented on the matter of the letter being made public. CPN-UML sources said that preparations are underway to submit the resignation letter and register the letter of withdrawal of support after the Chief Minister returns to Hetauda.
