Upper Mustang Monitors Glacial Lake and Flood Risks

Mustang. Monitoring of potential glacial lake and flood risks in the high Himalayan regions of Upper Mustang has begun through on-site and drone surveys. Officials have stated that no immediate potential risks have been observed in the areas monitored so far.

Following the BhoteKoshi flood, efforts to identify disaster risks and enhance preparedness in the high Himalayan regions of Upper Mustang have been intensified. Under the coordination of the District Administration Office, Mustang, a joint team comprising the Armed Police Force Nepal's BOP Nechung, Nepal Police, Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) LoManthang, and the Conservation Area Management Committee is monitoring the sources of the Kaligandaki river system and high mountainous areas.
