Police Chief Dan Bahadur Karki: True Democracy Means Pride in Profession

Kathmandu. Police Chief Dan Bahadur Karki has said that creating an environment where every citizen can be proud of their profession and business is true democracy. He said this while addressing the inauguration ceremony of the newly constructed Women, Children and Senior Citizens Service Center and Police Housing Building at the premises of the District Police Office, Dhanusha.

Inspector General Karki emphasized that democracy should not be limited to mere utterance of the word but should be realized in practice. He stated that democracy is not just repeating the same word again and again, but rather citizens being able to feel pride in their work and profession. He said that whether it is a shopkeeper, electrician, cook, tailor, police, or laborer – everyone should receive self-respect in their work and society should value their contribution. He mentioned that no one is small or big based on their profession or business, and in a democracy, all types of work should be considered a duty and respected. He criticized the discriminatory tendencies prevalent in society. He asserted that treating people differently based on their status, giving respect to some and disrespect to others, is unacceptable anywhere.
