Woman Dies After Attempting Self-Immolation in Dhangadhi

Kailali. A young woman who attempted self-immolation by pouring petrol on her body in Dhangadhi has died. Police have stated that the deceased is Jyoti Chaudhary, 35, of Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City-7. According to Kailash Bist, Police Inspector at the District Police Office, Chaudhary set herself on fire by pouring petrol on her body inside her own house on Sunday evening. Relatives immediately rescued her and took her to Seti Provincial Hospital. Doctors stated that approximately 60 percent of her body was burnt during treatment. She was preparing to be taken to Bheri Hospital in Nepalgunj for further treatment due to her critical condition, but her relatives took her to Kathmandu. Police Inspector Bist informed that she died en route in Dhading around 7 am on Monday morning while being taken to Kathmandu. Police have stated that the process of bringing the deceased's body back to Kailali is underway and further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
