Demonstration of American Drone Technology in the Everest Region

Kathmandu: American-made drone technology has successfully demonstrated its capability to improve expedition safety and logistics in Nepal’s high Himalayas, completing test flights above 5,000 meters in the Everest region.

The U.S. Embassy in Nepal and Seven Summit Treks, in partnership with The Coca-Cola Foundation, recently showcased the U.S.-manufactured Freefly Alta X Gen2 drone on Ama Dablam. During trials conducted in June, Nepali drone operators successfully carried oxygen cylinders and essential equipment over 1.6 kilometers of steep mountain terrain between Ama Dablam Base Camp (4,600 meters) and Yak Camp (approximately 5,050 meters).
