Kathmandu. As the government moves forward with plans to redesign Nepal's one- and two-rupee coins, a wave of misleading claims, fabricated images, and AI-generated videos has spread across media outlets and social media platforms, prompting the government to clarify that the country's "Chuchey" map will remain on the new coins.

At the Cabinet meeting held on July 16, the government approved a proposal allowing the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) to mint new one- and two-rupee coins with a revised design.
