Kathmandu. Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal has called a meeting of its central committee today. The JSP Nepal has called a meeting of its old central committee. It has been 6 months since the merger with Lospa Nepal. However, as the merger has not been finalized, both parties have started holding separate meetings. On August 3, the old executive committee of JSP Nepal held a meeting, and the executive committee of Lospa Nepal has also held a meeting. Today, the central committee meeting of JSP Nepal is being held. JSP Nepal's office secretary Pesal Dhakal said that the central committee meeting has been called to discuss the issue of unification. This meeting has been called to discuss the unification process and adjustments with Lospa Nepal within the party. He said that adjustments and other issues will be decided by this meeting. JSP Nepal has a 241-member central committee including 18 office bearers. The decision on who will be included in the unified central committee and on what criteria will be made by this meeting. A 251-member central committee has been proposed for the unified party JSP Nepal. There will be 19 office bearers in that central committee. An internal agreement has been reached between Lospa and JSP Nepal to adjust the party on a 60-40 basis. It is said that 60 percent of the leaders in the central committee of the unified party will be from JSP Nepal and 40 percent from Lospa. The executive committee meeting of Lospa Nepal held yesterday has set various criteria for adjustment with JSP Nepal. Former General Secretary of Lospa Nepal, Dr. Surendra Jha, said that leaders will be selected based on criteria such as struggle and contribution to the party, accountability to the party in elections, personality development, and youth representation. Lospa Nepal has a 307-member central committee including 65 office bearers. Since there is an internal agreement to adjust the party on a 60-40 basis between the two parties, it is necessary to select names of at most 100 people from the 307 members and send them to the central committee of the unified JSP Nepal. Therefore, it seems difficult for Lospa to select only 100 people.
